Knowledge that stays true.

Most wikis rot quietly: two pages drift apart, one goes out of date, and nobody notices until someone follows the wrong one. Contour finds pages that duplicate or contradict each other and tells their owners. Every page has an owner and a review date, so everyone sees at a glance whether a page is verified, due or stale.

01

Stop docs from contradicting each other

With AI enabled, Contour reads pages that cover the same ground and flags real conflicts, such as one page saying a restore takes 30 minutes and another saying two hours. The owners of both pages get a notification in the app and by email.

02

Duplicates found every night

Each night Contour compares published pages and finds pairs that cover the same ground. This works without AI, on every plan and when self-hosted.

03

One list of duplicates and conflicts

The Duplicates & conflicts tab on the Reviews page shows conflicts first, then near-duplicates with how similar they are. Filter to your own pages or all of them, and dismiss a pair so it stays hidden.

04

Update instead of starting over

While you write a draft, a hint points to similar published pages, so you can update the existing page instead of starting a second one.

05

An owner for every page

Pick a person or a group as the page's owner. Until someone does, whoever created the page owns it. With a group, every member shares the responsibility.

06

Verify in one click

Verify confirms a page is still correct, without editing it. It lasts the space's review interval of 30, 90, 180 or 365 days, 90 by default, or a length you pick when verifying, including no expiry.

07

Verified, due or stale

A badge in the page's meta line shows the state at a glance. Pages are due 14 days before the review runs out and stale once it has. Open the badge to see who verified the page, change the owner or verify it again.

08

Reminders that reach the owner

Owners get a notification when a review falls due and again when it goes stale, plus a weekly email digest on Mondays. Each member can turn the digest off.

09

Every verification on record

Verifications and owner changes appear in the page's history and in the admin audit log, with who, when, until when and from whom to whom.

10

Search and AI prefer verified pages

Search ranks verified pages higher and stale ones lower. Ask AI and the MCP tools see each page's state, prefer verified pages and say when an answer relies on a stale one.

Questions

Does duplicate detection need AI?

No. Finding pages that cover the same ground runs on Contour's own search, without AI, on every plan and when self-hosted. Only the conflict check, which reads both pages, needs AI.

What does the conflict check cost?

With Contour AI it uses your workspace's AI credits. With your own API key it costs nothing extra from us.

Does verifying a page count as an edit?

No. The page's content and its last-edited date stay the same; the verification is recorded separately in the history.

Who can verify a page?

Anyone who can edit it. The owner is who gets the reminders, but the review is not locked to them.

Can a page never expire?

Yes. Set the space's review interval to none, or pick no expiry when you verify a single page.

Can we verify pages through the API?

Yes: POST /api/v2/pages/verify, and pages/list filters by needs_review and owned_by_me. See the API reference.
